Door Hard to Slide or Requires Full Effort to Move

Door Dropped — Sitting Lower Than It Should
A sliding door that has dropped in the track is sitting lower than its correct position because the rollers have worn down enough to lower the roller housing below its correct height. On a standard sliding glass door, the door dropping by a quarter of an inch changes how the door seals against the frame at the top and produces increased rolling resistance at the bottom where the door is now too close to the track surface. Door Coming Off Track

Door Rattling When Closed
A sliding door that rattles in its closed position has rollers that have dropped the panel enough to create excess clearance between the top of the door and the upper track retainer. When the rollers wear down and the panel drops, the top of the door loses contact with the upper track guide and the panel can shift side to side and front to back in the frame, producing a rattle. CDW replaces worn rollers and raises the panel back to the correct height to eliminate the rattle.
Door Won't Stay Closed or Latch
A sliding door that won't stay closed or won't latch correctly has rollers that have dropped the panel enough to misalign the latch bolt with the strike plate. The latch is at a fixed height on the door panel. The strike plate is at a fixed height on the door frame. When worn rollers allow the panel to drop, the latch bolt drops with it and may no longer align with the strike plate opening. CDW replaces the rollers and raises the panel back to the correct height before checking latch alignment.
Visible Roller Damage or Wheel Cracking
A roller wheel that's visibly cracked, chipped, or deformed has failed and must be replaced. Plastic and nylon roller wheels can crack from impact, UV degradation, or thermal cycling stress. A cracked roller wheel creates uneven rolling resistance and can cause the door to jitter or catch during sliding. CDW replaces cracked and deformed rollers with correctly rated replacements.
Uneven Resistance Across the Door's Travel
A sliding door that slides easily in some parts of its travel and binds or catches at specific points has a damaged track section at the catch location rather than worn rollers uniformly across the travel range.
