A door that drags, will not latch or has dropped in its frame is almost always a hardware or alignment problem rather than a door problem. We fix the cause instead of shaving the symptom off the edge of the slab.
A door is a system, and one part of it has failed
Doors get replaced far more often than they need to be. Before a slab genuinely wears out, several other things go first: hinge screws lose their grip, the frame moves, the strike drifts out of line, the threshold wears down, the weatherstrip compresses flat.
Every one of those is repairable, usually in an hour or two, and usually for a small fraction of what a new door plus installation costs.
The one thing worth doing quickly is a door that no longer latches or locks. That is a security problem as much as an inconvenience, and it tends to get worse rather than better.

My door suddenly started catching at the top corner.
That is the classic sign of a dropped slab or a frame that has moved slightly. Hinge repair and realignment usually solves it without touching the door itself.
Should I just plane the door down?
We would rather not. Planing removes material permanently to compensate for something that has moved, and if the door moves back, you are left with gaps.
Can you fix a door that will not lock?
Yes, and it is one of our most common calls. Usually the latch no longer meets the strike, which is an alignment repair rather than a new lock.
Do you repair the frame as well?
Where it is repairable, yes. Strike and jamb repair, hinge reinforcement and threshold adjustment are all part of the work.
How long does a door repair take?
Most hardware and alignment jobs run one to three hours. Anything needing a part made or ordered takes a short return visit.
